Print management

Rosetta Print Manager

A universal print management solution that reduces total prints and streamlines document delivery. Version 8.0.0.

Print management is the layer above the printers. In an estate of any size, the expensive problems are not the devices themselves: they are jobs going to the wrong device, jobs reprinted because one page failed, jobs queued behind a machine that is out of toner, and no way to tell which department generated any of it.

Rosetta Print Manager addresses those directly, and it does so across operating systems rather than within one. IT departments running UNIX, Linux, Windows, or AS/400 servers can reach any printer and route jobs across networks from a single point of control.

Where jobs go

Job routing

Make sure every job goes to the right device the first time, for the lowest possible cost and the fastest possible completion.

  • Match the right job to the right printer based on document characteristics: paper size, page count, color, MICR toner, finishing requirements
  • Print the document at the point of need, whether that is across the hall or across the country
  • Automatically reroute jobs to backup devices on printer failure or queue backlog, which removes the waste of redundant print requests
  • Bi-directional communication confirms the target printer can complete the job, with delivery notification and alerts to end users
Fewer devices

Device consolidation

Minimize the number of devices needed while expanding your range of control.

  • Cross-platform: UNIX, Linux, Windows, and AS/400 servers can access any printer and route jobs across networks
  • Submit preprocessed PCL jobs to any configured destination regardless of the originating operating system
  • Eliminate specialized printers with integrated bar code printing, creating UPC labels and shipping documents on ordinary laser printers
  • Centralize network printer management to a single point of control, with secure system-wide access to print queues and remote enable and disable
Per page

Page-level control

Reprint a page range rather than regenerating the document.

  • Partial range printing: select the start and end pages of long reports
  • Proactive error detection stops print job errors and waste before they happen
  • On an error mid-job, reprint any page range without regenerating the document from the application source
  • Remotely match printer configurations to specific job types
  • Split large jobs across clusters of virtual printers to balance load and speed completion
Who can do what

Administration and security

One interface for every physical printer and output object, with access control and chargeback.

  • Automatic notifications for paper-out, low toner, and other fault conditions, sent to identified IT personnel
  • Manage security options, spool file parameters, and exception and failover settings
  • Restrict user access to specific printers or forms to prevent unauthorized printing
  • Comprehensive job logs capture all activity, for discovering threat sources and security violations
  • Allocate printing costs to specific users or departments for chargeback, with printer statistics and usage reports
What it does

Intelligent data conversion

Turn a data stream into a finished document without a pre-printed form.

  • PCL, PostScript, and PDF conversion for data-driven custom form creation
  • Integrate logos, personalized messages, and barcodes with control over style and position, using a form composer tool
  • An optional module removes the need to create and store pre-printed forms
  • Merge data from applications such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, and QAD into plain paper coupons, mass mailings, invoices, purchase orders, and checks
  • Simultaneously create electronic images for paperless storage and network retrieval, with up to six search keywords
  • Integrate externally scanned documents into document management systems

Continuous maintenance is one of the five guarantee conditions

A lapsed plan is not only a print quality risk. The five conditions apply together, so missing this one puts the MICR Performance Guarantee out of reach.

Toner and consumables are not covered by any plan. Custom plans are available for workgroup printers.
