Rosetta Technologies Introduces New Line of High Speed Departmental MICR Printers

Rosetta Technologies, a leading provider of Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) printers and check and Image Replacement Document (IRD) software solutions, today announced availability of the new SP 8400DNM MICR Printer, a workhorse solution optimized for high speed check printing applications.

Designed in partnership with office equipment industry leader Ricoh, the SP 8400DNM is a versatile and expandable 60-ppm laser printer rated to reliably produce high volumes of Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) documents, such as checks and IRD/CRDs, month after month. The affordable SP 8400DNM is excellent for all types of MICR-intensive environments that cannot justify production-class MICR equipment. The SP 8400DNM delivers superior image quality at up to 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution to reliably produce ASC X9 and ABA-compliant MICR output. Optional media supplies boost capacity to a maximum of 4,700 sheets for non-stop productivity, and a number of in-line folding and finishing options automate post-printing collation – great for multi-page EOB printing applications. The SP 8400DNM supports media up to 11" x 17", with optional drawers holding sheets up to 12" x 18" – perfect for service bureaus and commercial printers.

"Because of its compact size and fast speed, MICR-intensive customers can now generate more volume and revenue in a fraction of the cost and space required by production level machines," stated Rob Hullar, President of Rosetta Technologies. “Ricoh has done a great job with the design of this workhorse printer and we’ve taken advantage of that in developing this newest addition to our printer offering.” "Plus, at this price point it provides a lower threshold to enter the market. In the past, we've seen customers install multiple department-class units to exponentially increase their MICR check printing productivity to the level of a larger system," continued Hullar. "We expect the new SP 8400DNM, which offers a number of enhancements including faster speeds and a large 10.1" color touch screen operation panel for simplified ease of use, to continue that trend."

The SP 8400DNM MICR Printer is available in five configurations to meet escalating security and workflow requirements. Every model offers a baseline of security features such as user authentication and data encryption. The Standard version includes dual 550-sheet paper trays, a 100-sheet bypass, a powerful 1.46 GHz Intel CPU with 2.0 GB RAM, and is pre-loaded with E-13B and CMC-7 MICR fonts. The SP 8400DNM Secure adds locking paper trays to protect valuable check stocks. More secure environments can step up to the SP 8400DNM Guardian version that includes locking paper trays and a 320 GB hard disk with Locked Print, Data Encryption and Overwrite. Customers with MICR plus host print applications can choose the SP 8400DNM IPDS loaded with genuine native IPDS. Add locking paper trays for the SP 8400DNM IPDS Secure. Each of these ANSI-compliant MICR printers can be further customized with additional locking paper supply options, as well as genuine Adobe® PostScript®3™ to handle any workflow.

"Every member of the Rosetta SP 8400DNM MICR Printer Series is designed to provide the highest quality MICR output and is guaranteed to adhere to national MICR standards for adhesion, signal strength, and character sharpness," said Hullar. "And with running costs around a penny per page, we know we've got a winner in the SP 8400DNM. We are very excited to continue to partner with Ricoh to bring such a compact, affordable and reliable system to our check printing customers."
